PBD Receives PCI Level One Compliance Certification

June 1, 2008 - Alpharetta, GA -The road to PBD Worldwide Fulfillment Services becoming a Payment Card Industry (PCI) Compliant Service Provider has been a long and strenuous journey. The PCI Security Standards Council developed the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) to help facilitate the broad adoption of consistent data security measures to proactively protect customer account data. There is a set of 12 requirements provided by the PCI DSS that must be met in order to obtain this qualification. These requirements help to build and maintain a secure network and protect cardholder data.

PBD processes over 6 million VISA/MC transactions per year classifying them as a Level One merchant. All companies that process payments by credit card are now required to become PCI DSS compliant or they may lose their ability to process credit card transactions, and they will be audited and/or fined. Merchants must validate their compliance annually by an auditor. Given that PBD is a Level One merchant, the compliance of the company must be validated by a Qualified Security Assessor annually. The PBD Information Technology Department also performs a monthly routine scan to mitigate potential security risks.

Clients of PBD will experience numerous benefits from this qualification for instance, the reassurance that their customers’ cardholder data will be protected.  Another safety protocol that PBD employs is not acquiring their clients’ customers’ 3-digit or 4-digit security code on the back of their credit card in order to make a purchase. This further prevents any chance of identity theft taking place.
