PBD Recognizes the First Annual James E. Dockter Scholarship Recipients

July 25, 2008 – Alpharetta, GA – PBD Worldwide Fulfillment Services announced two winners of the James E. Dockter Scholarship during its second quarter employee meeting. The recipients are Hugo M. Hoyos-Larrea and Amy Diane Alexander.
 
PBD employees with at least five years with the company were eligible to submit an application for their children.  Applicants were required to be either high school seniors, recent high school graduates or first year college undergraduate students.  The recipients were selected by Mr. Dockter and PBD’s Senior Management Team based on the following criteria:  academic achievement, leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of educational and career goals, and recommendation by an adult. The scholarship of $1,000 may be used for the first or second year of undergraduate study only.

Hugo M. Hoyos-Larrea, is the son of PBD employee Joanna Hoyos who works in PBD’s Customer Service department. Hugo is now a sophomore at Georgia State University and is working toward a major in Music Education and a minor in Finance. He speaks both English and Spanish fluently, and enjoys playing the piano and the guitar. As for his participation in the community, Hugo has spent time volunteering as a music teacher at a middle school in Statesboro, Georgia.

Amy Diane Alexander, is the daughter of Anita Alexander who also works in the Customer Service department at PBD.  Amy graduated from South Forsyth High School in the International Baccalaureate program. She is currently attending the University of Georgia and is working toward a major in Anthropology.  Amy also participates in the UGA Ballet Ensemble which recently travelled to Barcelona, Spain to compete with other international universities, and they were happily awarded second place.
