James E. Dockter

Founder

Jim Dockter founded PBD in 1976 and served as its only President until January, 2000, when he became Chairman/CEO.  During that time, PBD grew from two to 250 employees and from 5,000 to over 500,000 square feet of warehouse space.  During the first five years, sales increased over 325% and his entrepreneurial achievement was acknowledged in 1982 by INC. Magazine highlighting the "500 Fastest Growing, Privately Held Companies in the USA."  He created the positive culture and strong set of values that PBD still follows today.  Jim later awarded the title of Chief Executive Officer to Scott Dockter and continued to serve as Chairman until 2008 when he completed the transition of PBD Worldwide to the second generation of ownership.  Jim still serves as consultant to PBD during his retirement and is active in several charitable organizations and foundations including the Society of UK Fellows, the Folds of Honor Foundation, and is a life member of the University of Kentucky Alumni Association.  Jim is also a sponsor of a Supply Chain Management and Professorship Award at the University of Kentucky, Gatton College of Business.
