Eighth Annual James E. Dockter Scholarship Winners Announced

PBD Worldwide is proud to announce the recipients of the eighth annual James E. Dockter Scholarship, Stu Bachan and Karly Schaub.

The James E. Dockter Scholarship program was established in 2008 to help finance higher education for children of PBD employees. Children of PBD employees, with a minimum of three years of service, are eligible to submit an application for the scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship may be used for any year of undergraduate study at an accredited four-year college or university. The recipients are selected by Scott Dockter, CEO/President, and the Scholarship Committee based on academic achievement, leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of educational career goals and recommendations.

Stu Bachan is the son of Maricela Bachan, a member of PBD's Client Services team. Stu graduated with honors with a 4.3 GPA and is pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree at Florida State University. Throughout middle school and high school, Stu actively volunteered with the Adopt a Stream program, monitoring local stream chemicals and environmental conditions. He also volunteered at his local elementary school every spring to help tutor students and prepare them for the CRCT state testing. Stu's great love for boats and cars, specifically how they are made and work, led him to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering.  “I dream of being an engineer working at Royal Caribbean or Disney Cruise Lines designing and building the world's most innovative cruise ships.” said Stu.

Karly Schaub is the daughter of Al Schaub, PBD's Philadelphia Distribution Center Manager. Karly is currently a freshmen at Kutztown University and is pursuing a degree in Education. Karly was an active member of her high school's Mock Trial Club and Book Club and served as the co-president of the Anime Club for three years. A self-proclaimed true blue animal lover, Karly spends her Sunday mornings volunteering at the local Humane Society. “After being a part of my school's peer mediation club and helping teach children and adults the basics of figure skating, I realized that pursuing a career in education was a rewarding and satisfying career that was perfect for me!” said Karly.
