PBD Worldwide Celebrates 40 Years in Business

PBD_40th_Logo-1.jpgPBD Worldwide, a leading fulfillment services provider for over 100 recognized organizations, is proud to be celebrating 40 years in business this year.

James E. Dockter founded PBD Worldwide in Columbus, Ohio in 1976 with the goal to provide the best possible storage, distribution and fulfillment services to associations and publishers.  PBD started with 5,000 square feet of space and, in its first five years of business, experienced more than 325% sales growth. By 1982, Inc. magazine had acknowledged PBD as one of the fastest growing privately held companies in the country.

In 1986, PBD relocated to the Atlanta area where it saw the best opportunity for growth and gaining a competitive advantage with the easy access to all domestic and international transportation networks that Atlanta affords. PBD quickly outgrew the 36,000 square foot facility in Roswell, Georgia and, in 1991, opened the 100,000 square foot headquarters and distribution center in Alpharetta, Georgia. After an almost 300% increase in growth, a second facility opened in Duluth, Georgia in 1997. Over the next 15 years, PBD continued to expand their footprint worldwide including facilities in Philadelphia, Chicago, Washington, D.C. and Hong Kong.

Today, PBD offers a full suite of solutions including fulfillment, contact center, accounting, digital distribution, printing and mailing and promotional products. The company is still privately owned and is in its second generation of ownership. PBD employs more than 250 people, operates out of four domestic locations and one international location equaling 480,000 square feet and ships more than 4 million packages a year.

Over the years, PBD’s commitment to attracting, empowering and retaining exceptionally talented team members has remained a top focus. PBD has been recognized as one of the National Best and Brightest Companies to Work For for the past three years, is a five-time recipient of Atlanta’s Top Workplaces honor and was named one of the Healthiest 100 Workplaces in America for 2015.

“We are proud to celebrate this huge milestone. Looking back at the past 40 years, it is impressive and motivating to see how far we have come as a company – we are truly grateful,” said Scott Dockter, CEO/President of PBD Worldwide. “PBD owes its success to all of those who have supported us throughout the years. As our founder, James E. Dockter, always said, ‘you win with good people who share your values’. We’ve found this to be true and feel fortunate to have loyal employees and clients.”
