The National Museum of African American History and Culture will open to the public on Saturday, September 24th. This will be the 19th Smithsonian Institution museum and will be the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, art, history and culture. As Smithsonian Institution’s proud partner since 2012, PBD Worldwide is responsible for stocking and replenishment of nearly all retail business in the Smithsonian Institution museums in the Washington, D.C. and New York City markets.

In preparation for the National Museum of African American History and Culture, PBD Worldwide began initiatives in April to convert office space into a Smithsonian production workspace and reconfigured warehouse space to include additional racking needed for the new retail inventory and storage for museum fixtures. PBD has also adjusted its delivery schedule to ensure that the retail gift shop would be fully stocked for the highly anticipated opening. “PBD’s average replenishment timeline for the current Smithsonian Institution museums include 2-3 deliveries per week. The new African American museum will include 1 – 2 replenishment deliveries per day in the early weeks after opening. Our team is excited to be a part of this historic museum opening. We have worked hard to prepare over the past several months to ensure a smooth opening for the Smithsonian Institution and a great experience for all the museum visitors,” said Frank Byrns, Distribution Manager of PBD Worldwide’s Washington, D.C. facility.
